· Governor cuts Health Framework and others…
Governor Swartzenegger eliminated the Health Framework Committee revision for 2009-2010 in July of 2009. CASHE members Marty Axelson, Bridget Brownell and Nathan Matza were all selected to serve on the committee. No immediate plans as to when the committee will be revised.

• Huntington Beach Union HS District Brings Back Health Ed
  
  After a four-year hiatus, The Huntington Beach Union High School District decided to re-introduce Health Education into the course requirements as a full semester. The district required the class for about 30 previous years, but budget issues and other concerns (‘other content standards’, API data etc., canceled the class in 2003). Sources from the district stated that it was the kids who lobbied the board, plus a suicide and drug overdose problem, to require the course again. Class will be mandated in the fall of 2007.
